Microneedling

Microneedling is a collagen induction treatment that uses fine medical-grade needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the skin's natural wound-healing response, prompting the production of new collagen and elastin over the weeks that follow.

What happens in the skin?
Each pass creates thousands of microscopic channels through the epidermis and into the upper dermis. The skin responds by releasing growth factors and recruiting fibroblasts, the cells responsible for building collagen and elastin. Because the surrounding tissue stays intact, the skin repairs quickly, and the result is remodelled tissue rather than resurfaced tissue.

What Microneedling Can Help With

  • Collagen Response: Stimulates the skin's own collagen and elastin production over the weeks following treatment.

  • Texture and Scarring: May help soften the appearance of acne scarring, rolling scars and uneven texture.

  • Pore Appearance: May refine the look of enlarged pores.

  • Tone and Radiance: May improve the appearance of dull or uneven skin tone.

Individual results vary. Outcomes depend on your skin, your concern and the number of sessions completed, and cannot be guaranteed.

Treatment Areas
Microneedling is commonly performed across the full face for general skin quality, and targeted to the cheeks and temples where acne scarring tends to sit. It can also be used on the neck, decolletage and back.

Ideal Candidates
Microneedling is ideal for those seeking to address:

  • Acne scarring and uneven texture

  • Fine lines and early signs of skin ageing

  • Enlarged pores

  • Dull or uneven skin tone

Microneedling may not be suitable for individuals with active acne, active skin infection or cold sores, a tendency to keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin use, bleeding disorders, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Treatment Procedure
Upon arrival, patients are consulted with our on-site doctor and the skin is assessed. The skin is then cleansed and numbing cream is applied for approximately 30 minutes. The device is passed over the treatment area at a depth selected for your skin and your concern. A calming serum and SPF are applied afterwards.

Duration and Aftercare
Treatment takes 45 to 60 minutes including numbing time. Expect redness and warmth similar to mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, with some light flaking around day three. Avoid sun exposure, makeup for 24 hours, intense exercise and heat for 48 hours, and active skincare such as retinoids, acids and vitamin C for five days. Daily sunscreen is essential while the skin recovers.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Collagen remodelling is gradual. A course of three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is typically recommended, with maintenance sessions every six to twelve months.

Microneedling vs. Other Treatments
Microneedling works with your own healing response rather than adding anything to the skin. Compared to ablative resurfacing it involves far less downtime, and compared to topical skincare alone it reaches the depth at which collagen is actually built. It can be planned alongside other treatments as part of your overall skin plan.

All cosmetic procedures require a consultation with our doctors and nurses to ensure informed consent regarding the procedure, its risks, and alternatives.
