How Long Does Rejuran Take to Work?

Rejuran is not a treatment that delivers instant, visible results the way some cosmetic procedures do. It works by stimulating the skin's own repair and regeneration processes, which means the improvements develop gradually over weeks and build with each session. Understanding this timeline upfront is important so you know what you're looking at in the mirror and when.

Week One: Recovery, Not Results

In the first few days after treatment, your skin may look worse before it looks better. Small bumps (papules) at the injection sites, mild redness, and some puffiness are all normal. These are signs that the product has been placed and the skin is responding.

The papules typically flatten within two to three days. Any redness or swelling usually settles within the first week. During this time, the polynucleotides are beginning to interact with your skin cells, but the regenerative process hasn't produced visible results yet.

Weeks Two to Four: Early Improvements

This is when most people notice the first changes. The skin starts to feel smoother, more hydrated, and slightly plumper. There's often an improvement in overall glow and luminosity that people describe as the skin just looking healthier.

These early results come from the initial wave of collagen stimulation and improved cellular activity. They're real, but they're also just the beginning.

Weeks Four to Eight: Building Phase

If you're following a standard course of three to four sessions spaced three to four weeks apart, this is the window where cumulative improvement becomes more apparent. Each session builds on the last, and the collagen stimulation effect compounds.

By the second or third session, improvements in skin texture, firmness, fine lines, and pore appearance tend to become more noticeable. People around you may start to comment that your skin looks good, without being able to pinpoint what's different.

Three to Six Months: Matured Results

The full effect of a complete Rejuran course typically matures around three to six months after the final session. This is when collagen remodelling reaches its peak and the structural improvements to the skin are most visible.

At this stage, the benefits include improved skin thickness and resilience, smoother texture, reduced fine lines, better hydration, and a healthier overall complexion.

What Rejuran Will Not Do

Rejuran will not eliminate deep wrinkles, fill hollow areas, or change the structure of your face. It is a skin-quality treatment, not a volumising or wrinkle-erasing treatment. If your primary concern is a deep fold, significant volume loss, or structural change, a different approach may be more appropriate.

Risks and Side Effects

Common side effects include small bumps at the injection sites, redness, mild swelling, and bruising. These are temporary and typically resolve within a few days. Less common risks include prolonged papules, uneven results, or infection. Your practitioner will discuss the specific risks relevant to your treatment area during your consultation.

Who Should Avoid Rejuran

Rejuran may not be suitable for people with active infections or inflammation at the treatment site, autoimmune conditions, a history of abnormal scarring, known allergies to polynucleotides or salmon-derived products, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Alternatives

Depending on your skin concerns, alternatives may include microneedling for texture improvement, skin boosters for hydration, laser or radiofrequency treatments for skin tightening and resurfacing, topical retinoids and antioxidants for gradual skin improvement at home, or doing nothing. Rejuran is an elective cosmetic treatment, and choosing not to have it is a valid decision.

Individual results vary. The timeline above is typical, but your experience may differ based on your skin type, age, lifestyle, and how your body responds to treatment.

A consultation with a qualified practitioner is the best starting point. They can assess your individual situation, explain the risks and benefits, and help you decide whether treatment is appropriate for you.
